Three years ago, at the end of my first semester of college, I attended the senior art show and was thankful that I wouldn't have to do one of my own for what felt like a long time. Now, three very unexpectedly short years later, I have completed my fist of two senior shows! This semester, well technically since late June, I have been working on creating my own 84 page magazine. I chose to do a magazine because it combines my two majors, graphic design and photography, as well as my passion for writing into one piece. The title of the magazine is Fourteen Fiftynine because 1459 is the street address of the house I grew up in and still live in today.
Volume One of Fourteen Fiftynine Magazine highlights 12 different artists and makers from around Northern Indiana who have a love and passion for what they do. Each individual has an article that shares their story and a little bit about their process of discovering their passion. In the middle of the magazine, there is a section titled "Interlude" that includes a series of portraits that conceptually represent the different stages of discovering talent and the process of discovery in general. My goal through this magazine was to create a piece that is a breath of fresh air for readers instead of the garbage we typically find in many modern magazines. It is my hope that Fourteen Fiftynine Magazine will shine a light on some extremely talented individuals and inspire people to dream, create, and explore. Here are a few photos of some of my favorite spreads!
