Last week I got the chance to do a shoot with one of my good friends from home. I want to start off by saying that Maggie has THE COOLEST hair and I am so thankful that she is here at IWU with me this year! Even though I don't do it very often, shooting in the lighting studio is one of my favorite things to do. There is always something new to learn and it offers so many creative potentials. The purpose for this particular shoot was merely to complete a project on lighting styles for one of my photo classes. My goal was to come up with something that fulfilled the guidelines of the project, but also to push my experimental side a little. One of my favorite things to incorporate into photo shoots is wind. I love wind because it is so unpredictable and you have to rely on the perfect moment to get the shot you're looking for. You can't create the same exact shot twice. What I found to be true was that I needed to let go of the vision I had in my head and put my faith in something unpredictable. As a result, I ended up with something completely different than what I had originally envisioned, but better. Sometimes getting out of our comfort zone and trusting something out of our control can result in great things. Now that you're tired of reading, here is a series of shots from my shoot with Maggie!
